About our Festival
Timed to coincide with peak autumnal colors, the free 38th Annual Salamanca Falling Leaves Festival happens over three days. Expect lots of family-friendly fun in this beautiful setting amid Cattaraugus County.
Salamanca, dubbed "The Gateway to Allegany State Park," is also in the heart of land owned by the Seneca Nation of Indians. Nearby Allegany State Park is 65,000 square miles of year-round recreation: the entire area around Salamanca is a blend of farmland and gorgeous natural vistas.
When: The festival takes place October 4-6. Hours for the festival are: Friday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday 11 a.m. to 89 p.m.; and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Location: Salamanca Falling Leaves Festival is held in Jefferson Street Park in the city of Salamanca. The park is located on Broad Street and is the site of several annual events scheduled throughout the year.
Getting There: Salamanca is a just over 60 miles away from Buffalo, and is accessible via Route 219, off of the I-90. At this time of year Route 219 is a place to see fall colors from the comfort of your vehicle: many trees alongside this free roadway are bursting with flaming reds, yellows and a smattering of vivid orange. Salamanca is also located along Southern Tier Expressway - Routes 17 and 86.
What to Expect:
The festival is a multi-faceted event celebrating Seneca culture, traditional family attractions and autumnal crafts. There are events and activities scheduled throughout the festival. Salamanca Falling Leaves Festival has free midway rides for adults and children, a bounce house and a petting zoo.
Concessions are available from several food vendors and there will be traditional Native American foods featured: corn soup, frybread, game meats and more. A beer tent with seating will be on-site. Dining areas will also be provided.
In addition to the festival happenings on Friday, there are a few sporty attractions taking place in Salamanca. A 5K Walk/Run starts at 6:30 p.m. and a Salamanca High School varsity football game kicks off at 7:00 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park on Broad Street.
During the day there are a number of contests and games. A parade follows the same route down Broad Street at 1:00 p.m. with individuals in traditional Seneca dress, marching bands and local dignitaries.
